There will be a red carpet, an assortment of fancy clothes, a dazzling emcee, and paparazzi snapping photos of the nominees!  Back by popular demand, the third annual “Eastern Choice Awards” will be held at 2:20pm on April 8, 2011 at Eastern Elementary School!

Based upon traditional award ceremonies such as the Academy Awards, the Grammy Awards, and the Kids’ Choice Awards, “Eastern Choice Awards” ceremony, coordinated by the Eastern Elementary Library, will culminate Eastern’s 2011 National Reading Month activities.   Each classroom has already selected a book category and three nominee books.  The whole school will vote before Spring Break and the winners will be announced at the ceremony.  On the left you will see this year's categories.  Click the category to see the chosen nominees.  If you click on any cover of the books on any page, you will be taken to the Amazon.com webpage for the book.

Three children in each classroom will bring their classroom’s nominee books to the ceremony.  When the winner is announced, the child holding the winning book will bring the book on stage to accept the award, which is a gold star that will hang in the Eastern Library.  A special gold seal designating the book as a 2011 winner will also be affixed to the front covers of each of the winning books.

The ceremony will be emceed by principal, Jana DuGuay, while members of the Library Club (4th and 5th graders) will serve as presenters.
